We set up a booth at the Sexapalooza show in Columbus this year!

We had a great time meeting new people, browsing the exhibits, and seeing all the new products and ideas out there.

The show comes to Columbus, Ohio every February at the Ohio Expo Center. We hope to be back again next year. If you missed us, you can still take a virtual look at our game here or contact us for more info.

In Case You Were Wondering....
Two weeks ago, I acquired my LLC number, naming my business GAME OF ROMANCE G O R LLC. Just last week, I acquired my vendor's license.

If you want to sell anything or start any small business, you will need both these documents. An LLC protects you personally by insulating you from any liability your business may incur; if someone sues the business, that lawsuit concerns the business only and not you personally.

The vendor's license is a formality that your state government requires. This license gives you permission, in the eyes of the state, to sell a product and collect the appropriate sales tax. You then must file periodic statements, with the appropriate agency in your state, to remit any sales taxes which you have collected. This also helps the IRS track (and tax, of course) the profits that your business generates.

If you are concerned about intellectual property, you should trademark any designs, names, artwork, or other items that you have created. This protects you in case someone tries to poach your hard work.

The games have been manufactured and shipped and are on their way.

The estimated arrival date is mid-May.

They will then be available for purchase!

The final specs have been sent overseas for production; once the games have been manufactured, they will be shipped back to the States and they will be available for purchase.

We are in production!

The game should be available for purchase in 2 months.

All the components of the game are now being manufactured, and will then be shipped here and be ready for distribution.

As we mentioned, we may also have the games available at some local stores in and near Columbus, Ohio.

We are ready to go into production!

I am looking over the electronic proofs; once these are approved, then we'll be able to go into production.

We are currently looking at Priority Mail vs. UPS for shipping; we'll let you know when we have finalized shipping methods.

We may also have the games available at some local stores in and near Columbus, Ohio; we are negotiating with some adult shops, and they may carry the games. Stay tuned for updates.

Christmas, 2013

Even more examples of Murphy's Law. Computer gremlins--and the exorcising thereof--cost me yet more time. My computer is now healthy and I am proof-reading what I hope will be the final version of the game's manual. From here, we should go into production!

Well, this has been a real-life version of Murphy's Law.

Someone--and I'm not saying who, other than it wasn't me--password-protected the pre-production copy of the game's user manual, and now we cannot access the game rules.

We're so close to getting this off the ground.

I know I have said this before, but please be patient. We're almost there.

We are just about done now and ready to start production. The board, manual and box have been finalized.

I know, I know.

I too am amazed at how long this has taken. Well, I learned a lot about how much effort is involved in taking an idea from the concept stages to actual production!

That guy Murphy and his law! Well, it seems like everything that could have possibly gone wrong has, well, gone wrong in the last few months. There have been some mix-ups and we ended up with a playing board that was bigger than the box it was supposed to fit into!

We also had some issues with readability; we had to make some modifications to the board so that the numbers were easier to read.

Finally, we had yet another, ahem, quality-control issue (is that a 6 or an 8?) that fortunately got caught before final production.

The bottom line is that we hope we now have the absolute final version of the board and we're ready to go into production.

Sept. 1, 2012

We have hit a few more manufacturing snags, and we've had to make a few executive decisions on the final design of the board.

In the meantime, we have also been streamlining the directions and improving the game itself, and after hearing some suggestions from other people, we are polishing up and adding a few more fun little tidbits to the game!

So maybe these delays are a blessing in disguise.

One area we made some improvements on: how much fun you can have with food!

So we decided to, ahem, spice up the game by adding a few more opportunities to mix food with other fun.

We think you'll like what you see when the game is finally available.

The prototype arrived. Well, it's not quite what I had in mind, but the issues are fixable. The board itself is nicely designed and colorful; so is the box and the spinner. However, there are a few minor design issues that I'll have to work out before I feel ready to release the game. Anyway, we are still making progress; be patient!

The prototype for the game should be here in 2 days. Also, we are finalizing shipping costs, which will help determine the final price of the game. Since everything is made in China these days (sigh....don't get me started on that topic), we'll need to see how much it is going to cost to ship the final product from China to the US.

The game's manual has been finalized and we will have a prototype of the entire game ready in 2 weeks. That means we're only a hop away from production!

I have suffered a heart attack last week, but I'm on the mend and making some lifestyle changes that will keep me, ahem, in the pink.
Anyway, work on the game continues; the final version of the game rules is being polished right now.

The designs on the bonus cards, which are a main part of the game, have now been finalized and that takes us one step closer to manufacturing!

We have cleared another hurdle. The gamebox's bottom has been approved as well as the game's spinner design. That only leaves the designing of the bonus cards and the game manual before production of the game can begin. Please hang in there with us. :^)

I just this past week was in touch with MJS Manufacturers out in Pahrump, NV. They assured me they were doing their utmost in getting everything finished. The sticky parts were the box (bottom and top), the game manual, and the game-board overlay.
We want to be sure everything is done correctly; once it goes into production, then it will be difficult and expensive to make any changes and/or revisions.
For all of you who have been waiting for this game, I appreciate your patience. There is no game like this on the market, so I hope you will find the game worth the wait.

I received an e-mail from MJS Manufacturing telling me they received the information I mailed them 2 weeks prior; so the game may be in production very soon. Stay tuned for more information.

For those of you who wish to follow in my footsteps and want to create a board game, or start any other kind of a business, it is not without its expenses. Just paid out $189.00 to get my LLC license and Federal Tax number. I am waiting for paperwork from the SSI so I can get my vender's license--another expense. Then comes my Registration/Trademark expenses. These bills sure pile up fast! Will keep you updated, so please stay tuned.

All the components necessary for this game have now been sent to MJS Manufacturers. So we have cleared all the hurdles and we will be ready to get the game out to you very soon. With any kind of luck, production should begin before Christmas 2011!

The board-game manual has been completed. The manufacturing instruction booklet is on its way to MJS Manufacturers. So we are very close to production & distribution!

The layout of the original game board has been completed and will be sent to MJS Manufacturers within the week for their approval.

The box design has been approved. We are currently working on the final design of the board.

I must say....I have some very talented family members. I told my niece, Deanna and her brother, Joshua, my concept, and within 4 days they produced exactly the board layout that I had in mind. I can't give them all the credit because someplace in there my brother, Dean and their mom, Rory, had some ideas of their own. Right now, two new gameboard designs are being considered for production.

June 2011

It has actually been something of a comedy of errors over the last few months. Due to a series of miscommunications, we thought we had approved an overlay for the final layout of this game back in early May. Meanwhile, Board Game Design (the company that is manufacturing this game for us) was instead waiting for us to approve the final design.

OK, we finally got that straightened out.
Then, a copy of the overlay was lost in the mail.
Yes, the regular US mail--you know, the stuff that uses paper.

Anyway, the last act in this play involved a computer crash in which some critical files were lost and had to be re-created.

So we have had some temporary setbacks.

So don't lose hope! We are feverishly working on having this game available as soon as possible. Stay tuned for further updates.
